This week was a busy one. At the start of the week after spending almost two weeks on the booklet for gurus day, Katrina and myself were told it wasn't getting used. So, I feel I wasted some time when it came to solely focusing on my honours project. Although, I can thankfully say I had a fair bit of things to show on the actual day. I spent Monday finalising the work I planned on showing the gurus and started to create small prototypes.
Tuesday was gurus day. This is the day when industry professionals and past graduates come in to see our work and provide feedback, suggestions as well as helping answer some of our questions about life after university.
I was lucky enough to speak to roughly 10 gurus, gathering their feedback and suggestions. I found it extremely helpful to get others opinions and suggestions on areas I can further explore as well as seeing their reactions to the project and the possible outcomes. I was suggested to look at loneliness in schools, as well as look into uncanny valley (if I planned on going into AI). Some positive feedback I received was on my idea of keeping it playful but empathetic.
After showing our work, the gurus had a Q&A session to help us get a better idea of their work. They also answered our questions on how they got their and things to consider during our honours year and work after university.
On Wednesday we had a talk from a previous graduate and guru about her fourth-year project, her design process and her work after graduation. This was really helpful as we got some tips on how to handle the rest of fourth-year.
For the remainder of the week I spent time looking over the gurus suggestions and mapping out further areas to explore in the following weeks.
