After last week thinking about where I wanted to go with my project and deciding that colour will play a large role, I had an idea. I want to create linked objects, initially one of the objects was a camera that a person could use to randomly generate colour from wherever they are and it would send that colour to the linked lamp. However, at the mark one presentation, I was asked what happens if it picks up an unintended colour? How would the sender know what colour is generated? Does it need to be a camera? These questions gave me something to think about.
Other than these questions I think the mark one went well and I feel more confident in where my project is going. Based on the feedback I started to think about how colour is chosen and sent. I also started to think more about the form the objects are going to take.
For the colour picking object, I decided that it would probably be best to design an RGB colour picking device, this allows the sender to chose a colour and has a built-in led would allow them to see the colour before sending it off. This prevents unintended colours from being sent and can be more personal as the colour is chosen by the sender. I've ordered a colour sensor module so I can further experiment and develop my idea. I still want to continue to play with form as the device will not be a camera but I also don't want it to resemble a phone as I think this could take away from what I am trying to achieve (getting away from mobiles as a way on connecting).
In the following weeks, I plan to experiment more with this technology and create more prototypes to develop a more for the objects.
