After thinking about my project for a couple of months and reiterating the brief from time to time, I decided to fully refresh the brief. I wanted to make it more approachable and open with less labels involved to make it more inviting for people. Initially 'Design for young adults who are suffering from loneliness to help them feel less alone through interaction.', I wanted to take away labels, as it can be overwhelming and intimidating to approach an intervention aimed at loneliness. Instead I want to create a brief and project that is more friendly that covers my key points, communication, connection and community.
So, the refresh of my brief is... 'Encourage people to start a conversation with one another through interaction. This allows people to build a connection with each other and create their own community.' another version, 'I aim to create an intervention that encourages people to start a conversation with one another to build a connection and to help create a community.'
I felt like it would benefit the project by reworking the brief into something less intimidating and into an interaction aiming to encourage conversation rather than a massive issue 'loneliness'. While this project has emerged and developed from looking at mental health to loneliness, I feel that conversation would greatly benefit both and goes well with that research I have carried out during the past few months.
