This week I was still debating where I wanted to put my project. I wanted to have a forced interaction to get people to work together and connect but was unsure how to do this. After asking people where they'd most likely to connect many said the work place or when they where out at a pub because there is less pressure.
Thing about these two I think designing for a pub setting would be very interesting, as someone who works with people who have been drinking regularly I've seen how more willing people are to interact with one another and form relationships. So I think this could be an interesting area to look into. However I do worry if this is too far a jump from my initial starting point.
Having the pub theme in mind I started to wonder how to get people to interact and connect, after speaking to a tutor about designers I like and showed projects I liked, it was pointed out that most of my favoured designs are spatial and furniture related. Going through my sketchbook I realised that many of my ideas involved spaces. After realising what styles I actually like I started to make small models of random ideas to see what I liked.
I created some model furniture pieces and some bases for a sensor based idea. The seating models I created involve two or more people working together to keep the seat balanced, like a see-saw type thing, keeping it playful for the setting.
